The National Academy of Medicine (NAM) is fortunate to have many hard-working members who give generously of their time and intellect in the service of NAM’s mission. We have the opportunity each year to recognize exceptional contributions through the presentation of three NAM Member Awards. These prestigious awards are named in honor of Walsh McDermott, Charter member of the NAM and one of the moving forces leading to its establishment; Adam Yarmolinsky, another Charter member of the NAM and primary author of the Academy’s Charter and Bylaws; and David Rall, an outstanding committee chair and an early Foreign Secretary of the NAM.
We encourage you to assist us in honoring our members whose contributions have been integral in promoting the NAM’s mission by submitting your nominations for these awards by April 1, 2017. Attached is a listing of previous award recipients and the nomination form which includes a description of the awards and guidelines for submission. Please note that all nominees must be NAM Members.
The medals will be conferred by authorization of the NAM Council, upon the recommendation of the Awards Committee and will be presented in conjunction with the Academy’s Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. on October 15-16, 2017. Each award will consist of a medal with the imprint of the individual for whom the award is named and a citation describing the contributions of the recipient. There will be no monetary award.
All nominations must be e-mailed ([email protected]), faxed (202-334-1694) or postmarked (Donna Duncan, National Academy of Medicine, 500 Fifth Street, N.W., NAS-320, Washington, D.C. 20001) no later than April 1, 2017. Nominations cannot be accepted after that date.
