The Influence of Personal and Environmental Factors on Professionalism in Medical Education

The article, published in BMC Medical Education, aims to better understand the factors contributing to professionalism to promote development of more effective approaches to promoting this quality in medical education. An in-depth model of physician professionalism is proposed composed of personal factors (i.e. distress/well-being, individual characteristics, and interpersonal qualities) and environmental factors (i.e. institutional culture, formal and informal curricula, and practice characteristics).
