Reflecting on Reflections: Enhancement of Medical Education Curriculum With Structured Field Notes and Guided Feedback

Published in Academic Medicine, this article describes the outcomes of an academic course for preclinical students designed to promote reflective capacity as a foundation for the development of competent health professionals. The course combined reflective writing assignments, instruction on clinical skills and professionalism, and clinical exposure in a small-group format. Analysis of students’ written course evaluations is included in the article.
