Achieving Diversity and Meaningful Inclusion in Nursing Education

The National League of Nursing (NLN) brings attention to the importance of diversity in the workplace, both in the total nurse population and in academic nursing. The document informs of the different forms of diversity including racial, ethnic, gender, LGBTQ, and presence of a disability. The NLN further discusses health disparities, inequity, the influence of micro-inequities, and racism in the workplace. The aforementioned reasons call to action recruitment, retention, and graduation of diverse students. Furthermore, promoting, embracing, and celebrating inclusive environments both in and out of academia is important in the field of nursing.
