Change Maker Accelerator Frequently Asked Questions

Browse the topics below to find answers to commonly asked questions about Change Maker Accelerators and the Accelerator application and selection process.

What is the estimated time commitment required of Accelerators?

Accelerators commit to active engagement through:

  • Monthly one-hour virtual coaching sessions
[Coaching sessions are candid, small group discussions facilitated by experienced well-being leaders.]
  • Quarterly joint learning sessions and dashboard updates
[Joint Learning Sessions are opportunities for the full cohort to convene for cross-learning on successes and surface shared challenges to their well-being work.]
  • 2 hybrid public meetings per year, with opportunities for Accelerator retreats and closed member sessions

How long is the Accelerator cohort commitment?

Accelerators are expected to be committed for at least 1 year, starting in 2026 and running through the rest of that year.

Is there a cost associated with participating as a Change Maker Accelerator?

No – there is no cost to apply. The NAM may provide travel support for in-person attendance to Collaborative meetings.

Is funding available for Accelerators?

No – the NAM does not provide funding to participate in for Accelerator activities. However, the majority of Accelerator activities (e.g., coaching sessions, dashboard entries) are done virtually and funding is available as needed to attend Collaborative meetings.

Are Accelerators required to report data under all 7 National Plan Priority Areas?

No – the NAM recognizes that different organizations may have varying focus areas depending on their missions and where their well-being programs are in their journeys; the goal is to show progress and growth in your organization’s well-being work during your time as an Accelerator.

All Accelerators are required to track at least Priority Area 6 (Institutionalize well-being as a long-term value), which serves as a shared reference point for all Accelerators. Learn more about the National Plan for Health Workforce Well-Being. Accelerators commonly report on initiatives related to improving program infrastructure, assessment, mental health support, and well-being culture, though it is not prescriptive which Priority Areas they fall under.

Is it mandatory to report my organization’s data? How does the NAM use our data?

Yes – all Accelerators are required to enter data into the provided dashboard. The data entered serves as the main mechanism to track the implementation of the National Plan for Health Workforce Well-Being. Tracking also allows the NAM to see trends and gaps in implementation, which may be synthesized into publications to help advance the field.

During coaching calls, de-identified data and common themes may be used for discussion. Permission is obtained before the NAM asks you to share specifics with each other, either within coaching groups or as panelists for our public-facing activities (e.g., Change Maker in Action webinars).

Some Accelerators volunteer to provide more details on their initiatives to encourage cross-learning, allowing their peers to bring exemplars and potential models for implementation back to their leadership and teams.

What type of data is expected from Accelerators?

The NAM is not prescriptive about the types of well-being initiatives to report since Accelerator cohorts are heterogeneous in terms of structure, size, and scope. The dashboard collects both quantitative and qualitative data. We encourage providing specific details about your well-being efforts and any barriers in executing your initiatives as planned, as well as relevant background and commentaries to provide valuable qualitative data.

How secure is my data shared in the Accelerator dashboard?

Data security and privacy are very important to the NAM. The NAM engages with VisionSync to provide a cloud-based tool that prioritizes industry standard data security and privacy protection measures. Each organization will only have access to their own data and can download their data reports to use internally at any time. The NAM, as the system administrator, has access to all Accelerator organizations’ data in order to provide direct dashboard support to individual organizations and to facilitate joint learning opportunities. During coaching calls, de-identified data and trends may be used.

How many people from my organization can participate in the coaching sessions, dashboard entry, and other Accelerator activities?

Typically, Accelerators have 2 designated participants, and it is up to the organization how to coordinate their responsibilities and attendance at meetings. Coaching sessions are open to additional members of Accelerator organizations that would like to benefit from the discussions.

There is a limit of 2 people per organization who can create user accounts to directly access the dashboard tool.

Do Accelerator participants become members of the Action Collaborative for Clinician Well-Being and Resilience?

Change Maker Accelerators become members of the Action Collaborative for Clinician Well-Being and Resilience. Members participate in closed Collaborative meetings and discuss various national topics related to well-being.
