Type:
Peer-Reviewed Literature
Published in Academic Psychiatry, the following study investigates hypothesized risk and resilience factors of burnout in first year medicine and psychiatry residents at an urban teaching hospital to guide development of interventions. Twenty eight percent of residents were found have burnout and they had higher levels of stress, fatigue, worry, and depression symptoms and lower levels of mindfulness and coping ability. These preliminary findings encourage development of mindfulness and self-awareness training as well as cognitive behavioral coaching.
