Understanding the outcomes associated with burnout is critical to understanding its effects on the health care system. Productivity outcomes are among those that could have the most immediate effects on the health care system. This systematic literature review, published in BMC Health Services Research, examined the impact of burnout on productivity in physicians. Authors found that the majority of studies indicate a negative relationship between burnout and productivity and that more understanding it needed to quantify the changes in productivity related to burnout.
