Gender Disparity Task Force Report from the American Academy of Neurology

This report and recommendations was written by the Gender Disparity Task Force of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) to discuss issues related to the disparities between female and male neurologists. The identified causes for disparities in compensation, professional advancement, leadership opportunities, and work/life balance were lack of salary transparency, absence of negotiating and networking, bias, and penalty for work-life balance and family responsibility. Recommendations from the AAN to address these concerns include leading by example, educating, improving transparency, developing mentors, and offering a scholarship/research fund.
