Burnout and Suicidal Ideation Among Medical Students

Published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, the following study sought to assess the frequency of suicidal ideation among medical students and explore its relationship with burnout. Medical students were invited to complete an anonymous survey assessing burnout, symptoms of depression, quality of life, demographic characteristics, and suicidal ideation. The study found that approximately 50% of students experience burnout and 10% experience suicidal ideation during medical school.
