Burnout and Resilience Among Nurses Practicing in High-Intensity Settings
This study published in the American Journal of Critical Care combats stressors and causal factors of burnout and moral distress by supporting creation of healthy work environments and designing a project to enhance resilience in nurses. Experiences of high-stress nurses in a survey study indicated moral distress to be a significant predictor of all 3 burnout measures and a strong association between burnout and resilience. The study quantified the effect of greater resilience, spiritual well-being, physical well-being, meaning in patient care, and hope as indicators and combatants of burnout.
