A Culture Conducive to Women’s Academic Success: Development of a Measure

In the following article, published in Academic Medicine, the authors address the gender gap in academic medicine by defining the construct of a culture conducive to women’s academic success (CCWAS) and create a measure to evaluate it. After reviewing published literature, holding focus groups, and consulting with subject matter experts, a CCWAS is concluded to consist of four distinct, but related dimensions: equal access, work-life balance, freedom from gender biases, and supportive leadership.
