Mache’s study, published in World Hospital Health Services, focuses on the associations between subjective well-being and mental health with an additional focus on gender differences. The findings indicate moderate scores for mental health and well-being in physicians. In general, male physicians perceive a better well-being and higher mental health score than female physicians. Well-being and mental health should be improved to holistically increase physicians’ work ability, quality of treatment, and patient satisfaction. Mental health interventions might include modifying physicians’ daily work schedules, providing curricula on mental health and offering awareness training. The article suggests widespread mental health prevention in hospitals and encouragement of early treatment.
