The Effects of a Nursing Practice Quality Circle on Attitudes Towards Group Work, Social Support, Job Satisfaction, Work Environment and Perceived Stress
The following study explores the effects of an intervention to teach problem-solving techniques and group process skills through a cooperatively structured group, the Nursing Practice Quality Circle (NPQC). The study revealed no significant differences between the experimental and non-experimental group in job satisfaction, attitude toward group work, or social support. The Work Environment and Involvement scores was higher in the NPQCs than in the two control groups. The Work Stress subscale indicated that NPQCs have been buffered from stressful institutional change. Other factors that need further exploration are work pressure, physician-nurse interactions, physical comfort and significant dissatisfaction with organizational policies and task requirements.
