Relationships Among Perceived Psychological Growth, Resilience and Burnout in Physicians

The following study examines the relationships between perceived growth as a physician and burnout. Results reveal the addition of perceived growth significantly improves prediction of resilience and perceived family support for burnout. Moreover, the effects of growth on depersonalization are associated with a lower level of family support, whereas the effects of growth on personal accomplishment are associated with a lower level of dis-positional resilience. The findings have implications for understanding protective factors that enhance resiliency.
