The following article, published in Medical Care, documents the development and validation of a multidimensional physician job satisfaction measure and separate global satisfaction measures. 835 U.S physicians completed the Physician Worklife Survey, a self administered questionnaire measuring job, career, and specialty satisfaction. Reliabilities of the 3 considerations range from .84 to .88, showing that physician job satisfaction is a complex phenomenon that can be measured using the PWS.
