Reducing Stress and Burnout in Junior Doctors: The Impact of Debriefing Sessions
Type:
Peer-Reviewed Literature
This study examines the prevalence of burnout among junior doctors (interns) and the impact of debriefing sessions on burnout levels. At baseline, a majority of interns displayed evidence of burnout in at least one Maslach domain and burnout was significantly higher in women. A majority of interns reported they would recommend the strategy to future junior doctors and found the sessions to be a source of emotional and social support. The authors advocate for a larger study to determine if debriefing can reduce the incidence of burnout in junior doctors.
