Physician Well-being: A Critical Deficiency in Resilience Education and Training

The following article, published in Academic Psychiatry, discusses the factors which contribute to distress experienced by physicians, such as isolation, psychological stress, and sleep deprivation. Burnout results in poor self-care and patient care, diminished empathy, medical error, and poor physical health. Resilience training is one way to combat physician burnout, and should ideally be integrated into undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate educational requirements.
