Personality and Medical Specialty Choice: A Literature Review and Integration

This review, published in the Journal of Career Assessment, examines the literature on personality and medical specialty choice. The authors provide a summary of the literature regarding personality and medical specialty choice and interpret the results of these studies using the integrative framework provided by the Five-Factor Model of personality. Conclusions drawn from the review suggest a loose association between a few personality factors and particular medical specialties.
