Is Working in Culturally Diverse Working Environment Associated with Physicians’ Work-Related Well-Being? A Cross-Sectional Survey Study Among Finnish Physicians
Type:
Peer-Reviewed Literature
This study in Health Policy examines the association between physicians’ perceptions of work-related well-being and the presence of foreign-born colleagues (FBCs) in their work unit. The results showed having FBCs was related to poor team climate and poor job satisfaction. Physicians reporting high procedural justice and job control sustained higher perception of job satisfaction regardless of the presence of FBCs in the work unit. The study finds culturally diverse work units pose challenges and advises fair decision making and increases in physician job control as possible interventions.
