How Doctors Feel About Electronic Health Records: National Physician Poll by The Harris Poll

The Harris Poll, on behalf of Stanford Medicine, conducted a comprehensive survey of over 500 primary-care physicians (PCPs) on their perceptions of electronic health records (EHRs). Key findings show: doctors see value in EHRs, but want substantial improvements; EHRs aren’t seen as powerful clinical tool because its primary value, according to PCPs, is data storage; the top priority for EHRs in the next decade should be solving interoperability deficiencies and improving predictive analytics, while the top priority in the immediate future should be improving EHRs’ user interfaces.
