The following article introduces two pieces of legislation, introduced in 2009, which seek to require the Occupational Safety and Health Administration to propose a standard establishing safe patient-handling and injury prevention programs for their health care workers. It lays out components that such programs must contain, and also describes American Industrial Hygiene Association’s (AIHA) position statement.
