Health and Well-Being of Armenian Physicians

This research study examines the health status of Armenian physicians in different specialties. The survey results found that a majority of respondents had diseases or health problems and a third simultaneously had two and more pathologies. About half of the physicians with health problems indicated that the illness was self-prescribed and 21% physicians did not receive any treatment. High rates of burnout were found in the three separate measures and 25% of respondents scored high in all three dimensions. Overall, physician health is poor in Armenia as suggested by high levels of morbidity and burnout.
