Executive Summary: Transforming Moral Distress into Moral Resilience in Nursing
A collaborative project developed by the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics, the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, the American Journal of Nursing, and the Journal of Christian Nursing, along with the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses and the American Nurses Association examines and identifies individual and systems strategies addressing moral distress. How do various institutions mitigate its detrimental effects and foster moral resilience? Group consensus recommendations from an invitational symposium held at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing was group for building moral resilience is outlined. The four focus areas are practice, education, research, and policy.
