Published in Journal of Medical Ethics, this study establishes a Physician’s Spiritual Well-Being Scale (PSpWBS). Qualitative data from focus groups regarding physicians’ spiritual well-being was collected and mapped with related literature, leading to the development the 25-question PSpWBS. Reliability and validity tests were performed in four domains of the PSpWBS: physician’s characteristics; medical practice challenges; response to changes; and overall well-being. With internal consistency, the scale was found to have satisfactory reliability and validity, indicating its ability to assess the spiritual well-being of a physician.
