Employment, psychosocial work environment and well-being among migrant and native physicians in Finnish health care
Published in European Journal of Public Health, this cross-sectional survey study examines the differences in employment, perceptions of psychosocial work environment and well-being between migrant and native physicians in Finland. Migrant physicians are more likely to experience lack of professional support and lower work-related well-being and more often work in primary care and less often in leadership positions. Furthermore, the migrant physicians who had migrated more recently perceived less stress related to electronic patient records systems and higher organizational justice compared with native physicians or earlier migrants. The article promulgates that attention be paid to enhance equitable career opportunities and low measure of well-being among foreign-born physicians despite there well adjustment to the Finnish health care system.
