Effectiveness of a Mindfulness Education Program in Primary Health care Professionals: a Pragmatic Controlled Trial

The following study assesses the effectiveness of a training program designed to reduce burnout and mood disturbance, increase empathy, and develop mindfulness for primary care professionals. Large improvements were found in total mood disturbance and mindfulness and moderate improvements in burnout and empathy. Overall, the authors advise mindfulness-based programs as part of continuing professional education to reduce burnout, promote positive attitudes, strengthen patient-provider relationships, and enhance well-being.
