Burnout in Female Faculty Members: A Statistic or an Opportunity

This commentary presents evidence for inconsistencies in the day-to-day experiences of female faculty members, and proposes solutions for the mitigation of the challenges experienced more often by female faculty members with the goal of diversifying and strengthening academic medicine. These proposed solutions should include benefits for part-time faculty similar to those of their full-time colleagues, such as child care benefits, greater flexibility in work schedules and improved promotion timing such as specialized tenure tracks.
