This article investigates investigate gender differences in work experiences, satisfactions and psychological health among physicians in Turkey. The findings report few differences in personal demographic and work situation characteristics. Female physicians had less professional tenure, worked fewer hours per week, and reported more work-family conflict, psychosomatic symptoms and absenteeism. Contrary to research published in other countries of gender differences in physician well-being, this article suggests that an emphasis on gender similarities might be warranted.
