Health Sector Climate Action Survey
The Health Sector Climate Action Survey aims to standardize how health care suppliers report climate and sustainability data. It reduces duplication, supports transparency, and helps providers and suppliers share consistent information.
The Health Sector Climate Action survey was developed by the NAM Climate Collaborative to reduce redundancy in climate-related data requests from the health sector and streamline how suppliers report on sustainability and climate-related efforts.
The survey helps ensure suppliers can efficiently share key information—such as emissions disclosures, reduction goals, and sustainability strategies—with buyers and providers in a consistent format.
Having a standardized tool for the entire health care ecosystem can improve transparency, decrease duplication, and accelerate meaningful climate action. This effort supports a more aligned approach to tracking climate commitments across the health care supply chain.
Guidelines for Use
Maintaining Integrity of the Survey
- Do not alter any of the core survey content—this includes the Introduction, and all questions under the Assess, Strategize, Implement, and Disclose sections.
- If you choose to, add organization-specific questions only in the Additional Optional Questions section at the end of the survey.
- Clearly label any added questions with your organization’s name.
- Disclose the inclusion of additional questions when sharing or requesting the survey from others.
For Suppliers
- Download and save the Excel survey from the NAM website to store it locally.
- Once saved, complete the survey and retain it on file for future climate-related data requests from customers.
- Use the same completed form to respond to multiple buyers, reducing the burden of duplicative surveys.
- If adding data beyond the core survey (e.g., internal targets or additional disclosures), use the Additional Optional Questions section and label accordingly.
For Health Care Providers and Health Care Organizations
- Download and save the Excel survey from the NAM website to store it locally.
- When requesting information from suppliers, send the unmodified core survey and note if your organization has included any optional questions.
- Encourage suppliers to retain a completed version for consistent responses across partners.
