Global Coalition of Academies of Medicine on Climate and Health

Bringing together the world’s interested national medical academies to advance evidence-based action on climate and health.

Background

The Global Coalition of Academies of Medicine on Climate and Health is a collaboration of national academies of medicine and medical divisions within academies of sciences to strengthen the evidence base, share best practices, and support practical tools that connect climate and health. Working with governments, health systems, and communities, the Coalition promotes context specific solutions that enhance climate resilience and protect public health.

Areas of Collaboration

The Coalition supports the Belém Health Action Plan—Brazil’s framework released at COP30 to integrate health across climate adaptation and mitigation. Together, academies will provide independent expertise, foster knowledge exchange, facilitate implementation tools, and take collective action on climate and health priorities.

The Coalition plans to align activities with the Belém Health Action Plan’s three focus areasSurveillance and Monitoring, Evidence and Capacity, and Innovation and Sustainable Production. Building on COP30, the Coalition is advancing strategic planning to explore areas for ongoing collaboration and implementation.
