National Association of Community Health Centers

The National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) is dedicated to supporting health centers with detection and alleviation of unhealthful conditions associated with air, water, and toxic exposures impacting patients. Currently, NACHC is working on several different projects. To address poor air quality, NACHC is working with the Environmental Defense Fund to research the correlation between extreme weather events and air toxic exposure in the Gulf Coast of the U.S. NACHC is also supporting the CDC to improve and promote uptake of clinical heat guidance and forecasting resources, so that patients will be educated on how to protect themselves from high heat. NACHC is also in award negotiations with the Department of Energy for a $57 million award to install solar and backup battery storage on health centers in the rural southeast to build resilience to power outages and to promote sustainability. NACHC also has several partners such as the Medical Society Consortium on Climate and Health and ecoAmerica, who NACHC consistently engages with to put out new trainings, new opportunities, resources, and webinars on climate impacts on health.
