Health Action Alliance

Health Action Alliance works at the intersection of business and public health — creating programs, coalitions, and movements to support business leaders who are invested in improving the human experience of every employee, creating greater workforce resilience, and strengthening communities.

In 2024, HAA consulted with more than 100 of these business leaders to gauge their readiness for the threats of climate change and extreme heat to workforce health. Through those conversations, HAA uncovered a clear vulnerability gap: most employers are not ready for the health risks faced from the changing climate.

Following these learnings, Mercer, the CDC Foundation, and HAA joined forces to form the National Commission on Climate and Workforce Health. This commission is a group of cross-sector leaders taking action to better assess the current health risks to workers and develop best practices for creating a climate-resilient workforce. HAA’s mission is to provide the insights, resources, and tools the business community needs to navigate the effects of extreme weather on their people and operations.
