EyeSustain is a global coalition of >50 ophthalmology societies committed to advancing sustainability in eye care through education, research, innovation, industry collaboration, and advocacy. EyeSustain has 3 co-sponsoring organizations: the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery, and the European Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery. EyeSustain’s website, www.eyesustain.org is an international platform for papers, lectures, articles, position papers, and practical resources to help ophthalmologists reduce surgical and clinical waste and emissions. EyeSustain has met with CMS/Medicare to explain ophthalmology’s unique needs and ability to be more sustainable in the operating room.
