President Joe Biden has announced his intent to appoint National Academy of Medicine (NAM) member W. Kimryn Rathmell, MD, PhD, as director of the National Cancer Institute. Elected to the NAM in 2022, Rathmell is a physician-scientist, oncologist, and educator. She is currently the Physician-in-Chief and Chair of the Department of Medicine at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
