The National Academy of Medicine (NAM), building on the efforts of its Committee for Emerging Science, Technology, and Innovation in Health and Medicine, is hosting a workshop aimed at shedding light on the potential unintended consequences of advancements in biomedical science and emphasizing the crucial need for equity in innovation.
This gathering builds upon established frameworks from the NAM and the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) to explore mechanisms of governance for emerging science and technology. Speakers and panelists will focus on aligning emerging science and technology with equity across the innovation ecosystem, with breakout sessions which will facilitate in-depth exploration of case studies in new areas of biomedical research and development. Collaborative sessions will lay the groundwork for a future where innovation in health and medicine is not only groundbreaking but also ethical and inclusive.
