Ways to Give
Donating to the National Academy of Medicine is an investment in the future of health and medicine. Every gift to the Academy—from cultivating the next generation of health care leaders through one of a kind fellowships, to supporting a more coordinated international response to infectious disease epidemics, to providing long-term support to the NAM’s endowment—advances us toward our goal of a healthier future for everyone.
Gifts to the NAM are tax deductible, and you may choose to designate your gift to the NAM Annual Fund which provides critical unrestricted funding to the area of greatest need, or program of your choice.
Join us by making a gift today and help us forge a healthier future.
Once you have decided what type of gift you’d like to make, there are many ways of making it.
Online gifts are the most immediate way to support the NAM. To give online, you can use our secure online gift form and follow the instructions provided. You have the ability to make your gift as a one-time payment, or as a convenient monthly recurring gift. Your credit card will be charged on the 15th of each month until you tell us to stop.

Donor Advised Funds
A donor advised fund (DAF) is a mechanism that simplifies the administrative burden of fulfilling your philanthropic objectives. DAFs offer the favorable tax benefits of giving directly to charities with added flexibility around timing of gifts. An increasingly popular charitable vehicle, DAFs are an excellent way to both simplify your charitable giving and facilitate your strategic philanthropic goals.
If you have a DAF with Fidelity Charitable or Schwab Charitable, DAF Direct enables you to recommend grants to the NAM directly from your fund, and you can use the DAF Direct Link to designate them to a fund of your choice.
Did you know that your gift may be eligible for matching dollars if a corporation or foundation with a matching gift program employs you or a family member? This is an easy way to double your donation. Please contact the administrator of your matching gift program to find out the steps you need to take in order to have your gift matched.
Gifts of Stock
A gift of long-term appreciated stock (more than 1 year) allows you to avoid capital gains tax. When itemizing your deductions, you can deduct the fair market value of the stock. If you choose this option, please complete this form and contact Shawn Neil, Director of Advancement Services, at 202-334-3823 or firstname.lastname@example.org so that we can accurately initiate and credit your contribution.
Professional Award or Honorarium Gifts
Donating professional awards, honorarium, prizes, or other forms of payment can be a creative way to support the work of the NAM while potentially avoiding the taxable income. If you would like to learn more about how to donate an award or honorarium to the NAM, please contact the Office of Development at 202-334-2431 or email@example.com.
The Academies are tax exempt under a federal charter granted to the National Academy of Sciences. Gifts and grants to the National Academy of Medicine are tax-deductible. The NAM proudly adheres to a Donor’s Bill of Rights, allowing you to have complete confidence that as a donor to the NAM your wishes will always be respected.
