The New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF), New York’s largest workers’ compensation insurer, recently launched a Climate Action Premium Credit Program to help its hospital system policyholders manage the workplace risks associated with climate change. The program provides premium credits to hospitals that pledge to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, enhance their resilience to extreme weather events, and develop a climate action plan. At present the program is a pilot for hospitals and NYSIF will later expand it to include policyholders in all industries.
