A Mindfulness Course Decreases Burnout and Improves Well-Being Among Healthcare Providers

Published in the International Journal of Psychiatry Medicine, the purpose of this study was to determine if a continuing education course based on mindfulness-based stress reduction could decrease burnout and improve mental well-being among health care providers of different professions. No effects were observed on self-rated physical health. The Masalach Burnout Inventory (MBI) indicates that the mindfulness course reduced emotional exhaustion and depersonalization and increased personal accomplishment and self-rated mental health.
